'' The area in Finland where I originate from is rural and sparsely populated. Many previous inhabitants have been drawn towards a life elsewhere and the signs are everywhere, with numerous family homes having simply been left to decompose in their own time. As a Finnish national born abroad, trips back “home” provoke in me a sense of unease - a feeling of returning to a place that existed more in the past; where nature is slowly eroding signs of human life and in the process also eating away at the foundation to my roots. Neighbour 59 is a psychogeographical reflection on this place, a digitally manipulated photograph that sits somewhere between the observable and that which can only be perceived.
