American photographer Sage Sohier (b. 1954, US) has been photographing people in their surroundings for over 30 years.Her photography comes from a place of collaboration with the strangers she visits, capturing compelling stories emerging from this interaction. Drawn to different scenarios, Sohier’s approach varies: from colour photography to the use of wide-angle lens, her images explore the narrative possibilities in a photograph. She has received multiple fellowships and awards, such as from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, and her photographs have been published in magazines and as photobooks, the latest being Animals in 2019. Her work has part of solo shows and group exhibitions, including MOMA and ICP, New York and the Art Institute of Chicago. It is part of many collections including MoMA, New York, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, SF MoMA and the Brooklyn Museum.
