“I like the comedy and tragedy you can get within a landscape.”

Simon Roberts (b. 1974, UK) often employs expansive landscape photographs and his approach is one of creating wide-ranging surveys of our time, which communicate on important social, economic and political issues. For his series We English (2007-2008) and Motherland (2004-2006) he travelled extensively over long periods of time, exploring the notion of nationhood in England and Russia. Roberts has been exhibited widely to over thirty national and international venues and his photographs reside in major public and private collections. He was commissioned as the official Election Artist by the House of Commons Works of Art Committee to produce a record of the 2010 General Election on behalf of the UK Parliament and in 2012 he was granted exclusive access by the International Olympic Committee to photograph the London Olympics.
